Black Cabs Belfast- FAQ

How Much Does A Tour Cost ?

The cost of a tour is £60 for the first two travellers, which includes the base cost of the tour. Any additional people joining the tour will be charged an extra £10 per person. For example, a group of four people would pay £80 in total (£60 for the first two people plus £10 each for the extra two people).

It is important to note that this pricing structure allows for flexibility and affordability in group bookings. The more people that attend the tour, the more cost-effective it becomes per person. Additionally, this structure also incentivises people to bring along friends or family members, which could increase overall participation and enjoyment of the tour.

What Is The Tour Duration

Each Tour Lasts For a minimum of 90 mins. That is from pick up at your Hotel until your drop off point.

What Type Of Taxi Will I Travel In ?

When visiting Belfast, one of the iconic experiences is to travel in a black cab. These cabs can be found throughout the streets of Belfast and other major cities, and their traditional design make them instantly recognizable. Black cabs are spacious and can accommodate up to six passengers comfortably. They are also wheelchair accessible (This will limit the number of extra passengers) and equipped to handle any luggage. Traveling in a black cab is not just a means of transportation – it is an experience in itself.

Pick Up Points

With Free Inner City Hotel Pick Up you are off to a great start. You may also ask your driver to drop you off at alternative locations, ideal if you are visiting any of Belfast’s other attractions. If you have not selected a pick up point then the  failsafe point is Leonardo’s Jurys Hotel Great Victoria Street.

What Will I See

On a Mural Taxi Tour, you will see a variety of colourful and vibrant murals painted on buildings and walls throughout the city. The tour will take you to different neighbourhoods that have a strong street art scene, such as Falls Road, Shankill Road, and the Interface Wall. Each mural has its own unique style, theme, and message, ranging from social issues and political commentary. Along the way, your guide will provide insights into the history and culture behind each mural, highlighting the artists and their creative process, as well as the cultural significance of the artwork in the community. You will have the opportunity to take photos and learn about the evolving street art scene in Belfast, which has become one of the most vibrant and dynamic in the world.

Exploring Belfast’s Political Murals
A Journey Through History

The Origins of Belfast’s Political Murals

Stepping inside one of our iconic black cabs in Belfast is not just a means of transportation; it’s an opportunity to delve into the fascinating history and culture of this vibrant city. As you embark on this unique tour, you’ll find yourself transported back in time, exploring the origins of Belfast’s political murals.

These murals offer poignant reminders of Belfast’s troubled past and the conflicts that once divided communities. Created during the height of the Troubles, they serve as visual representations of political and cultural identities, reflecting the hopes, fears, and aspirations of the people.

A Journey Through Belfast’s Streets

Our tour begins by winding through the narrow streets of Belfast, with each turn unveiling a new mural that tells a different story. The famous Falls Road and Shankill Road are two of the areas where murals are most concentrated, and your knowledgeable guide will provide insight into the significance of each piece of art.

As we pass by the murals, you’ll have the opportunity to observe the vibrant colors, intricate details, and powerful messages they convey. From murals depicting historical events to those commemorating individuals who lost their lives in the conflict, each artwork has its own tale to tell.

The Impact of Political Murals Today

While Belfast’s political murals serve as a reminder of the city’s troubled past, they also play a vital role in promoting understanding, dialogue, and reconciliation. Today, these once-divisive artworks have become symbols of unity and hope.

As you take in the murals, you’ll witness first hand how they have evolved over time. Many artists have moved away from depicting violent scenes and have chosen to focus on themes of peace, community, and cultural diversity. These modern murals not only inspire conversation but also contribute to the vibrant transformation of Belfast as a city.
